Election 2008
Well, did your candidate get elected President? Did your favorite ballot positions go through or get defeated? Some of my choices lost, some of them won. You know what? God is in control. We get all excited and wring our hands, wondering if life as we know it can go on. The political pundits are either ready to enshrine President-elect Obama on Mount Rushmore or declare him the worst President ever, all before he even takes off his coat in the Oval Office. All the while, God is in heaven, wondering why we are so upset. Let me just give you some things I have run across that give me peace…
• “Events of all sorts creep or fly exactly as God pleases.” William Cowper
• “Nothing, therefore, happens unless the Omnipotent wills it to happen; he either permits it to happen, or he brings it about himself” Saint Augustine of Hippo (an unfortunate name if there ever was one)
• “There is no need to nervously pace the deck of the ship of life when the Great Pilot is at the wheel.” Croft M. Pentz
• Sergei Nikolaev, an energetic Christian leader in the Soviet Union, said, "Don't look at the circumstances and don't look at what you can't do. Look at your Lord. Call on his power. Trust his timing. Don't put a period where God puts a comma."
• “If you want a wonderful experience, take your New Testament and use a concordance to look up the two little words, ‘but God.’ See how many times human resources have been brought to an utter end; despair has gripped the heart and pessimism and gloom has settled upon a people; and there is nothing that can be done. Then see how the Spirit of God writes in luminous letters, ‘But God,’ and the whole situation changes into victory.” Ray C. Stedman

So, there you have it. God is doing something great. Obama, McCain, Biden, Palin, Nader, Barr heck, even Bullwinkle the Moose, it doesn’t matter who gets elected. God is able to work in whatever man, woman or moose is in office. So relax, Christian, it will all be okay.

Well said-- so why do you so vigorously support Brother Dennis' opinion and call me a black kettle-- I wrote with sarcastic parallel to show the bigotry in his voice, yet you cared enough to take sides, whether directly or indirectly... Should we perhaps as Christians not even vote ... I actually wonder
